Date and text in one impression

A date stamp with your own text adds both a date and a fixed message to a document in a single press. Think RECEIVED, PAID, BOOKED or APPROVED, combined with your company name or logo. The date sits in a band in the middle of the stamp and you set it yourself with small wheels. Your own text goes above and below it. It is a quick, tidy way to record when post arrived, when an invoice was paid or when a form was checked.

Choosing your model

Start with the build. Plastic is light and affordable, perfect for everyday office use. Metal is heavier and sturdier, made for front desks and accounts teams that use the stamp all day, such as the Colop Classic, Colop eXpert and Trodat Professional. Then choose the imprint size. A single word and a name fit on a 2-line size such as 41 x 24 mm. If you also want an address or extra status lines, go for a size with 4 to 8 lines. Round models are handy for a logo around the date. With the two-colour ink, the date prints in red and your text in blue, so the date stands out straight away.

Supplying your design

Leave a clear strip across the middle of your design for the date band. That is where the date wheels sit, so place your text above and below it. Use one colour, with no gradients or photos. A vector PDF or SVG works best, but a sharp PNG or JPG is fine too. Keep letters at least 2 mm high, lines at least 0.2 mm thick and 1 mm clear from the edge. We check your file before your stamp is made.

Setting the date

Turn the wheels for day, month and year until the right date shows. Make it a habit at the start of each day so you never stamp the wrong date. Close the stamp after use, and replace the ink pad when the imprint starts to fade.
