Account and application
Everything about who can become a reseller and how approval works. Once approved, your dashboard has these tabs.
Who can become a reseller?
Any business that resells our products: Etsy shops, online stores, brands, designers and agencies. If your company is based in the EU you need a VAT number; Dutch companies also enter their Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number. See Getting started.
How long does approval take?
If all automatic checks pass, your account is approved straight away. If something needs a closer look, we review your application personally and usually let you know by email within 1 working day. See Approval.
Why is my application reviewed by hand?
For example because you use a free email service, your website is not reachable, or you expect more than 100 orders per month. Your application is not rejected; we simply look at it ourselves. See Which checks do we run.
Is there a minimum order?
No. You order one item at a time, exactly when your customer orders.
Payments, discount and VAT
You pay for orders in advance with a balance, or per order with a saved card. All the details are in Payments and balance.
How do I pay for my orders?
Under Balance & payment, choose Balance (prepaid) or Card per order under Payment method. This applies to your whole account and you can change it any time. Card per order is only available once you have saved a card.
How much discount do I get?
You start with 10% off the retail price, including all options. From €500 total spend it automatically becomes 15%, and from €1,000 it becomes 18%. The discount never goes below a product’s minimum margin, so on some products it can be lower.
What happens if my balance is too low?
The order gets the status Awaiting balance and nothing is charged. If Automatic top-up is on, we first try to charge your card; otherwise the order continues by itself after your next top-up. You can also click Retry yourself.
Can I withdraw my balance?
No. Your balance is prepaid credit that can only be spent at Printen.eu. If you cancel an order paid from your balance, the amount returns to your balance as a Refund.
How does VAT work?
You are the customer on the invoice, and your billing country decides the VAT. Dutch companies pay 21%, EU companies outside the Netherlands with a valid VAT number are reverse charged, and outside the EU it is an export without Dutch VAT (local duties or taxes may apply on delivery). A top-up is a prepayment; VAT is calculated per order.
Where can I find my invoices?
An invoice overview with downloads in the dashboard is coming soon. If you need an invoice now, please contact us.
Products and files
A product in your dashboard links a catalogue product to your design and your SKU. See Creating products.
What is a product in my dashboard?
A catalogue product with fixed options, your own SKU, your design file, a title and description, and optionally your retail price. Orders refer to that SKU; that is how we know what to make.
What requirements does my design have to meet?
Supply pdf, png or jpg, at least 300 dpi at final size, in CMYK (canvas may also be RGB), usually with 3 mm bleed. The exact requirements differ per product; see file requirements.
Can I edit an existing product?
A product you saved from the design editor is changed with Edit in editor; the SKU stays the same and new orders use the new print file. Other products are changed through the API with PATCH /reseller-products/{id}. See editing and variants.
Can I save a design from the editor directly as a product?
Yes. In the editor, go to Design and then Save and click Save as reseller product. You enter SKU, name and selling price and see your purchase price first. We create the print file at the same quality as for a regular order. See saving from the editor.
How do I offer the same design in another size or on another paper?
Under Products, click Create variant, choose the option and the new value and give a new SKU. If the size changes, open the variant with Edit in editor and save it so the print file fits.
Why does my product show an orange label?
We check whether the saved options can still be ordered. Option removed or Price unknown means you need to adjust the product: open it with Edit in editor, choose other options and save it again.
Can I add mockup images?
Yes. Under Products, click Images and upload up to 10 images (jpg, png or webp, max 10 MB). Drag them into order; the first one is the main image in your shop. You can make mockups for free in Canva, for example. Through the API you use the mockupUrls field. See your own product images.
What do Active and Inactive mean on a product?
Only active products are matched to orders. An order with the SKU of an inactive product is ignored by store connections and rejected by the API. Click the Active or Inactive label to switch.
Connecting stores
A connection picks up paid orders with your SKUs automatically and sends tracking back to your store.
Which stores can I connect?
Shopify, WooCommerce and Etsy. Wix, TikTok Shop and Amazon are coming soon. Other platforms and your own systems connect through the API.
Which orders are imported?
Only paid orders, and of those only the lines whose SKU matches one of your active products. Other lines in the same order stay with you. Orders placed before you connected are never imported.
Can I publish products to my store with one click?
Yes, for Shopify, WooCommerce and Etsy, as long as the store is connected under Connections. Under Products, click Publish to ... for that store. The product arrives in your store as a draft with the SKU already filled in; you make it live there yourself. The WooCommerce plugin can also import your products as drafts.
My customer cancels in my store. Is the order cancelled on your side too?
No. Cancel the order yourself in your dashboard under Orders with Cancel, as long as it is not in production yet.
How do I disconnect a store?
In your dashboard, go to Connections, click Disconnect and confirm. For Shopify we then also remove the app, for WooCommerce our webhooks. For Etsy, revoke access on etsy.com yourself afterwards. If you use the WooCommerce plugin, disconnect in the plugin settings and revoke the API key under API keys.
Why does an Etsy order arrive later?
Etsy does not notify us about new orders. We fetch paid orders every 15 minutes, so an order can take up to about a quarter of an hour to appear.
Orders and shipping
How to follow your orders and handle the most common situations. More detail is in Tracking orders.
How do I place an order without a store connection?
Go to Orders, click Place an order, fill in the recipient and add lines with your SKU and the quantity. From your own system you can also use the API.
What do the statuses mean?
Awaiting balance and Payment failed are about payment, Awaiting file means a line has no design file. In progress means paid and on its way to production, and Cancelled speaks for itself. See Tracking orders.
Can I cancel an order?
Yes, with Cancel on the order, as long as it has not been sent to production. Paid from your balance? The amount returns to your balance; paid by card, it goes back to your card.
What does shipping cost and how long does it take?
Shipping costs depend on the destination country and are shown in the quote and on the order. Delivery times per product and country are on the shipping page.
Does my customer get tracking?
We do not email your customer ourselves. Tracking goes to your connected store (for example Shopify’s shipping email or a note in WooCommerce), and is available through the order.shipped webhook and in your dashboard.
Can I test without costs?
Yes. With a Test key (prk_test_), orders are set to In progress straight away but are never charged and never produced.
White label and returns
Your customer sees your brand, not ours. Read more in White label.
What does my customer see on the parcel?
Your name as the sender, your return address and your packing slip note, plus your logo where the production location supports it. No prices, no Printen.eu logo and no invoices from us.
Where do I set up my branding?
On the Branding tab, fill in Name on the parcel, your logo, Packing slip note (optional) and your Return address. Then click Save.
What happens if there is a production error or transport damage?
We remake the product. Please contact us with the order number and a photo of the problem.
Can my customer return a product?
Personalised products are excluded from returns, just like regular orders. Read the details on the returns page.
